Textile manufacturing,
refined over generations
Fourth-generation contract sock manufacturing for brands, retailers, and uniform programs. We build better socks for the people who wear them every day.
A legacy of
precision knitting
Meridian Mills started as a single-floor operation in Charlotte, North Carolina, founded by Arthur Brennan — a textile engineer who believed the best socks came from getting the machine settings right, not cutting corners. Three generations later, we run forty electronic knitting machines across a 48,000-square-foot facility and supply some of the best-known apparel brands in the country.
What has not changed is how we work: spec first, price second. We build samples until the product matches the construction sheet, then dial in the economics. Every production run is tracked by lot number from yarn receipt to pallet ship, giving our partners full traceability.
Today Arthur's granddaughter Sarah Brennan runs operations. The factory floor still has his original 1972 Lonati on display — and a wall of every sock we have made since, archived by season and client.

Knitting machines
Our plant floor runs a mix of single and double-cylinder electronic machines from the three leading manufacturers — Lonati, Busi, and Sangiacomo. Each machine is configured for a specific needle count and cushion profile, giving us the flexibility to run fine-gauge dress socks, heavy-terry work socks, and everything in between, often on the same shift.

From yarn to finished pair
Every order passes through the same four-stage workflow, whether it is a 500-piece test run or a 50,000-piece seasonal program.
Yarn sourcing & conditioning
We source ring-spun combed cotton from GOTS-certified mills and engineer synthetic blends to spec. Yarn is conditioned to factory humidity standards before knitting to ensure consistent tension.
Knitting
Electronic Lonati and Busi machines knit the full sock body in one continuous cycle — heel, toe, and leg are formed without seams. Each machine runs an integrated quality monitor that flags dropped stitches in real time.
Linking & boarding
Hand-linked toe closing gives a flat, irritation-free seam. Socks are then steam-boarded on aluminum forms to set shape, size, and finish — the same process used for the finest dress hosiery.
Finishing & packaging
Final inspection under controlled lighting. Pairs are matched, folded, and packed per your specifications — poly-bagged, tagged, or bulk-packed for distribution.

Sustainability
We hold GOTS and OCS certifications for organic cotton processing and are working toward Higg FEM 4.0 verification for our facility. Over 60% of our yarn volume now comes from certified sustainable sources, and we have reduced facility water usage by 34% since 2019 through closed-loop cooling on our knitting machines.
Our zero-waste-to-landfill program recycles yarn cones, cardboard cores, and poly bags. Unused yarn lots are donated to a local technical college's textile program rather than disposed of.
